Submissions

Submissions for Attaché XXV are now open!

Since 1998, The Attaché has organized an annual print journal for undergraduate international relations research.

We accept research essays, policy briefs, and other academic papers from undergraduate students in International Relations; History; Political Science; Economics; Peace, Conflict and Justice; regional studies and other related disciplines.

All papers submitted to The Attaché must, in some way, contemplate affairs between at least two international actors* or with concepts in the theory or practice of international relations to be considered.

Submissions should be between 1500 and 8000 words and must have received at least an B+/78% grade (or equivalent).

The Submissions Portal will close at 11:59 PM on October 28th, 2025. If you are applying for a role at The Attaché, you may also submit a manuscript – however, please note that hired Editors are not eligible to publish in the annual issue, and papers submitted by hired Editors will be taken out of consideration. Whether a staff applicant submits a manuscript will play no part in candidate evaluation.

This year, in the spirit of celebrating the unique insights from our IR community – the ones that made 25 issues, and 28 years in print, possible – Attaché XXV will develop its theme around submitted works. Thus, we are not restricting papers by theme this year – any manuscript that meets our other criteria will be considered.

*As of November 2024, The Attaché has changed its working definition of “international actor.” The Attaché employs a purposefully broad definition of “international actor” that includes, but is in no way limited to, states, international, regional and multilateral organizations, multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations, informal and formal multinational networks (i.e. activist networks, international sports associations, etc.), and any other entity with international personality.
